The Wauchope Cricket Club is the oldest surviving sporting club in the Port Macquarie - Hastings region.
Formed originally as the Hastings Cricket Club in 1861 and the third cricket club after the Rollands Plains Cricket Club in 1843 and Port Macquarie Cricket Club in 1857, it became the Wauchope Cricket Club in 1881 following the establishment of the village we know today, with the Huntingdon Cricket Club and Rawdon Island Cricket Clubs also forming at that time. Of these cricket clubs, Wauchope is the only survivor and the custodian of cricket history in our region.
The next team sport of rugby union was not introduced to the district until 1891 which then created the winter and summer sporting seasons.
With a rich history, the Wauchope Cricket Club welcomes all players, men and women, boys and girls, and of all abilities to join our community and family orientated club. Even if you do not wish to play but would like to volunteer your services in some capacity, please let us know and you will be made most welcome.
